Join us at the Simons Theatre on Thursday, February 16, as the New England Aquarium Lecture Series presents Secrets of the Sea: A Screening with Filmmaker Jonathan Bird. This beautiful 3D film reveals life among more than 70 marine species in a world where peaceful pursuits and mutual dependence far exceed predator and prey behavior. Meet some of the ocean’s strangest and most spectacular inhabitants—from adorable pygmy seahorses and opalescent squid to manta rays, tiger sharks, a coconut octopus, and much more. Filmed in the Philippines, Mexico, Tahiti, Indonesia, Palau, Hawaii, California, and other locations, Secrets of the Sea reveals many wonders and mysteries and demonstrates the critical importance of marine biodiversity in keeping our ocean healthy.

Emmy Award-winning cinematographer Jonathan Bird will share key insights on making this giant-screen film.

Secrets of the Sea is a MacGillivray Freeman Films presentation of a Howard Hall Productions and Oceanic Research Group production.

This in-person only Aquarium Lecture Series event is free to the public and presented in partnership with the Lowell Institute.
